Sonny Dykes Says TCU Will Have Open QB Competition

TCU announced its new head coach Sonny Dykes last week and he is well on his way to shaping this team in his image. Dykes has been connected to great offenses almost everywhere he has gone, and TCU should be no different. With a fertile recruiting ground at his feet, Dykes will be able to bring in whoever he needs to run a top-tier offense. But what about the talent he already has on roster?

Dykes inherits a quarterback room that has incumbent starter Max Duggan and talented Oklahoma-transfer Chandler Morris. Who will start for the Horned Frogs in 2022? According to Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dykes says it’s anybody’s game.

There are certainly some great candidates on the roster in Fort Worth and it wouldn’t be surprising to see more candidates enter the competition in the coming weeks. Chandler Morris has exhibited terrific accuracy in his short time on the field, whereas Max Duggan is widely known as a great leader for TCU. It should be a fun race to watch and whoever comes out on top should be the signal-caller for an explosive offense under Sonny Dykes.
