Former Baylor, Utah QB Charlie Brewer to Transfer to Liberty

Former Baylor starting quarterback Charlie Brewer will is set to transfer to Liberty University, according to multiple reports.
For Brewer, it’s his second transfer in as many offseasons. Brewer was in his first season with the Utah Utes earlier this year, but he saw his passing numbers fall in each of his three starts for the Utes. He threw for 233 yards in the opener against FCS power Weber State, followed by 147 yards against BYU and 104 yards against San Diego State, the game that led to his benching. Brewer threw three touchdowns and three interceptions for the season. Eventually, he was surpassed by former Texas quarterback Cameron Rising on the depth chart, who never looked back in leading Utah to a Pac-12 Title.
Liberty is coming off a 7-5 season and will play Eastern Michigan in the LendingTree Bowl.
Brewer will be competing to replace Malik Willis, who is viewed as a potential first-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. He will likely compete with former Tennessee Vol Kaidon Salter, a top 2021 recruit who was dismissed from Tennessee this spring and joined Liberty over the summer.
Charlie Brewer finished his Baylor career holding the No. 2 spot in most Baylor records, trialing only Robert Griffin III, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy. He ended up throwing for 9,700 yards with 65 touchdowns and 28 interceptions, along with 1,039 yards rushing with 22 scores.
