The TCU Horned Frogs put up one of the biggest upsets of the day in women’s college basketball, defeating No. 18 Texas A&M, 87-75, on Sunday.
For the Horned Frogs (4-4) it was their first win over a ranked team this season and helped get them back to .500 for the season. Entering the game TCU had lost two previous meetings with ranked teams and was one of two Big 12 women’s team with an under-.500 record.
The Horned Frogs took care of business on Sunday, and then took care of celebrating with head coach Raegan Pebley after the game.
TCU’s Lauren Heard had a game-high 33 points, which included a huge game at the free-throw line, going 18-for-21, which included a 13-for-14 fourth quarter as the Aggies had to foul to try and stop the clock and get back in the game. The Horned Frogs led by as much as 29 points in the contest.
Aja Holmes had a career-high 22 points, which included a career-high six made 3-pointers.
Before the game, Pebley presented Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair with a gift in honor of his retirement, effective at the end of this season.
The Horned Frogs are off this week for finals and return to the court on Sunday when it hosts Incarnate Word at 1 p.m.
