Four-Star Offensive Lineman Commits to Texas

NCAA Football: Texas at West Virginia

The Texas Longhorns have added an elite offensive lineman to their 2022 recruiting class.

On late Monday night, four-star offensive lineman Neto Umeozulu out of Allen, Texas pledged his commitment to the Longhorns.

Neto held over 33 offers and took just official visits to just three schools which were Alabama, USC, and Texas. Luckily for Texas, they were the final visit back in November.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound guard from Allen is currently ranked as the number seven interior lineman for the class of 2022 by 247Sports. Neto is also ranked as a top 150 player overall in his class as well as being a top 25 player in the state of Texas.

Neto Umeozulu is the Longhorns 23rd commitment for the 2022 class which now ranks sixth in the country. Umeozulu is the fifth offensive lineman Texas is taking for this cycle which is an area where the Longhorns need help at.

The Longhorns had a disappointing first year under new head coach Steve Sarkisian finishing with a 5-7 record. However, if they can continue to pull in elite talent then that will only help their chances of getting the program back where it needs to be. I know that development has been an area of concern over the years, but it doesn’t hurt to keep getting elite players to your school. Give credit to offensive line coach Kyle Flood for keeping Texas red hot on the recruiting trail.
