Texas DB Ishmael Ibraheem Charged With Violating Revenge Porn Law

NCAA Football: Texas at Texas Tech

Texas defensive back Ishmael Ibraheem has been accused of violating Oklahoma’s revenge porn law by sharing sexually explicit images of a student from Oklahoma State. Accordingly, he has been suspended from all team activities during the legal process of the investigation.

On September 1, the victim told police that Ibraheem sent her a screenshot of a TikTok video of her and Ibraheem having consensual sex during the summer of 2021, and an investigation ensued in Payne County, Oklahoma. The victim also told police that the video was intended to be private and not for anyone else to see. Ibraheem sent the victim a text, stating that he had “unsent” the video to another person, whom he claimed never even viewed it.

OSU police filed a misdemeanor charge of nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images against Ibraheem, based on the evidence provided by the victim. This charge will be based on a law that Oklahoma put into effect in 2016 regarding “revenge porn,” or the distribution of sexual or pornographic images of individuals without their consent. This law is in effect in 46/50 states, excluding Wyoming, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Massachusetts.

Here is a statement from a Texas spokesperson to the Austin American-Statesman on Tuesday:

“We were made aware of the allegations involving Ishmael Ibraheem in early September and immediately cooperated with the University and legal processes, which remain ongoing. . . In light of the new information and his recent charges, he has been suspended from all team activities at this time as we continue to monitor the legal process.”

According to documents from the Payne County district court, an arrest warrant was issued for Ibraheem on Friday and a judge has been assigned to the case. The case is ongoing and we will update you as the facts are released. Ibraheem made an appearance in the Rice game early on in the year, but was injured in that contest and never returned in 2021.
