Three-Star DL Devonte Tezino Picks Baylor Over TCU, Nebraska

NCAA Football: West Virginia at Baylor

Baylor has been riding a wave of momentum after defeating Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship two Saturdays ago. Now, head coach Dave Aranda and his staff are out on the recruiting trail ahead of the Sugar Bowl matchup against Ole Miss on New Year’s Day, and they are making progress for the future, particularly in 2022.

Baylor added to their 2022 class on Tuesday, as three-star defensive lineman Devonte Tezino pledged Baylor over TCU, Nebraska, and Houston among others. This is wonderful news for the Bears just one day before the early signing period.

Tezino took an official visit to Balyor over the weekend and obviously it went well for the senior out of Killeen, Texas. At 6’4″ 250-pounds, Tezino has the frame to be a powerful edge rusher in Dave Aranda’s three-man front. Sources close to 247Sports said that Tezino was leaning towards Baylor before the visit and that was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

In his final season at Ellison High School, Tezino racked up 55 tackles, 32 TFLs, six forced fumbles and seven sacks over 10 games. Tezino joins Tre Emory, a three-star recruit out of Mount Pleasant, Texas, as the only two defensive linemen in Baylor’s 2022 class. With his commitment, the Bears now have 19 commitments in the class, which ranks 30th nationally and fifth in the Big 12 according to 247Sports.
