Big 12 Women Back to Seven Teams in Latest Bracketology
The Big 12 women feature seven teams in the most recent NCAA Tournament Bracketology released by ESPN over the weekend.
While the Big 12 didn’t have any No. 1 seeds in this edition, Baylor did end up being the highest-seeded Big 12 team in the field, coming in as a No. 2 seed in the Spokane Region, where the Bears would play Montana in the first round.
The Big 12 has toggled between six and seven teams in the field this month. Last week the Big 12 had six teams in the field per ESPN’s Charlie Crème.
Other takeaways:
Kansas joins the field this week as one of the ‘First Four’ games. The Jayhawks would play Alabama. Kansas is also one of the ‘last four in’ for the field.
Kansas State and Oklahoma moved up in this week’s Bracketology. K-State carries one of the best NET ratings in the country right now, and it’s helping to keep the Wildcats solidly in the field. Oklahoma, meanwhile, is on the cusp of breaking into the Top 25.
Baylor and Texas held steady in Bracketology.
Iowa State and West Virginia took a drop in this week’s Bracketology. The Cyclones played just one game last week and they blew out Prairie View A&M on Sunday. Meanwhile, West Virginia was off all of last week.
Along with the seven Big 12 teams, two future Big 12 teams are in the field — UCF and BYU. BYU would face Stephen F. Austin in the first round.
