Texas Hires Tashard Choice from USC as Running Backs Coach

The Texas Longhorns have found their new running backs coach. Just days after Stan Drayton left Texas to become Temple’s head coach, the Longhorns have found a replacement in the highly coveted Tashard Choice.
Choice was set to join Lincoln Riley’s staff at USC before changing course and coming to Texas.
Tashard Choice is a former Dallas Cowboys and Georgia Tech running back. He had back-to-back seasons with over 1300 rushing yards in his final two years at Georgia Tech.
He was selected in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Cowboys and spent time in Washington, Buffalo, and Indianapolis. Choice finished with 1579 yards and 10 touchdowns in 88 career NFL games.
He began his coaching career as an intern with the Dallas Cowboys in 2016 before becoming a graduate assistant at North Texas in 2017. He was promoted to running backs coach in 2018 and then left North Texas in 2019 to be the running backs coach at his alma mater, Georgia Tech.
Choice takes over a highly talented running back room that includes Bijan Robinson, Roschon Johnson, Keilan Robinson, Jonathan Brooks, and Jaydon Blue.
