The Baylor Bears took a tumble, but remained in the Top 10, as the latest AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25 was released on Monday.
They were three Big 12 teams in the Top 25 this week:
Baylor at No. 10 (the Bears were No. 5 last week);
Texas at No. 12 (the Longhorns were No. 11 last week);
Iowa State tied at No. 13 (the Cyclones were No. 12 last week).
Oklahoma received 45 votes, effectively leaving the Sooners as the No. 27 team in the country.
Baylor (9-2) fell to Michigan, 74-68, in the Naismith Women’s Challenge in Uncasville, Connecticut, causing its drop in the poll. The Bears have one final non-conference tune-up before Big 12 play begins on Jan. 2, as the Bears host Houston Baptist on Dec. 29.
Texas (8-1) played one game last week, and it turned into a last-minute matchup. Texas was supposed to play Arizona in Las Vegas, but COVID-19 protocols caused Arizona to stay home. San Diego flew in to play Texas and the Longhorns won, 74-58. Texas is at Princeton on Dec. 22 and hosts Alcorn State on Dec. 29.
Iowa State (11-1) easily defeated Prairie View A&M, 108-39, in the Cyclones’ only game last week. That wraps up non-conference play for Iowa State.
Oklahoma (9-1) did not play last week, but the Sooners return to the floor to host Utah on Dec. 21 and Wichita State on Dec. 29.
The entire poll featured No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Louisville, No. 4 Arizona, No. 5 NC State, No. 6 Maryland, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 8 Indiana, No. 9 Michigan, No. 10 Baylor, No. 11 UConn, No. 12 Texas, (tie) No. 13 Iowa State and Georgia, No. 15 Iowa, No. 16 Duke, No. No 17 Georgia Tech, No. 18 South Florida, No. 19 BYU, No. 20 Notre Dame, No. 21 LSU, No. 22 Kentucky, No. 23 Texas A&M, No. 24 Ohio State and No. 25 North Carolina.
