The West Virginia Mountaineers have landed their Class of 2023 quarterback in Raheim Jeter. The Spartanburg, South Carolina native made his announcement on Twitter on Monday.
He picked the Mountaineers over the Kentucky Wildcats.
“I chose them because of the real family atmosphere up there and they’ve been consistent with me throughout my recruitment,” Jeter said. “I just fell in love with the place, with the campus and coaches and the offense they run, just everything.”
He went on to add, “Just the amount of love they showed me and they were very truthful with me throughout the entire process. Told me I was their top guy, the one they wanted and just kept it real with me throughout camp where I had a great experience working with (quarterbacks) coach (Sean) Reagan and (head) coach (Neal) Brown. Then throughout the season they were talking to me just about every day. So they were always just very consistent.”
Jeter is 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds, and according to 247Sports, he is a three-star prospect and ranked as the 39th-best quarterback and ninth-best prospect in South Carolina for 2023.
In this past season, he completed 192 of 300 passing this season for 2,979 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Jeter is the program’s second commit for 2023, joining Pennsylvania running back Jaheim White.
The Mountaineers are set to take on Minnesota in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl later this month.
