Three Big 12 Women’s Teams Remain Bunched in AP Top 25

NCAA Basketball: Oklahoma State at Texas Tech

The Baylor Bears and the Texas Longhorns didn’t move as the latest AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25 was released on Monday.

They were three Big 12 teams in the Top 25 this week:

Baylor at No. 10 (the Bears were No. 10 last week);

 

Texas at No. 12 (the Longhorns were No. 12 last week);

Iowa State at No. 14 (the Cyclones were tied for No. 13 last week).

Oklahoma received 78 votes, remaining just outside the Top 25 for the second straight week.

Baylor (9-2) did not play last week after falling to Michigan, 74-68, in the Naismith Women’s Challenge in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Dec. 19.  The Bears host North Texas on Dec. 29 in their final tune-up before traveling to Kansas State for their Big 12 opener on Jan. 2.

Texas (9-1) played one game last week, defeating Princeton, 70-53. The Longhorns return to the floor to host Alcorn State on Dec. 29 before going to Oklahoma State to open Big 12 play on Jan. 2.

Iowa State (11-1) hasn’t played since defeating Prairie View A&M, 108-39, on Dec. 19. The Cyclones open Big 12 action on Jan. 2 as they host West Virginia.  

Oklahoma (9-1) won its only game last week, defeating Utah, 83-76, on Dec. 21. The Sooners host Wichita State on Dec. 29 and then open Big 12 play at Texas Tech on Jan. 2.

The entire poll featured No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Louisville, No. 4 Arizona, No. 5 NC State, No. 6 Maryland, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 8 Indiana, No. 9 Michigan, No. 10 Baylor, No. 11 UConn, No. 12 Texas, No. 13 Georgia, No. 14 Iowa State, No. 15 Duke, No. 16 Georgia Tech, No. No 17 Notre Dame, No. 18 BYU, No. 19 LSU, No. 20 Kentucky, No. 21 Iowa, No. 22 South Florida, No. 23 Texas A&M, No. 24 North Carolina and No. 25 Ohio State.
