TCU picked up defensive back from the Southeastern Conference on Friday as Missouri transfer safety Ishmael Burdine has announced he will play for the Horned Frogs in 2022.
The former three-star safety was a part of Missouri’s 2019 signing class and has not been much of a factor, recording just 17 tackles in 13 games over three seasons.
Originally from Slidell, Louisiana, Burdine was ranked as the 20th-best player in his state coming out of high school and held offers from 20 D-I schools, including Arkansas, Baylor, Tennessee, and Wisconsin among others.
TCU is looking to make big strides in 2022 defensively, after having one of the worst statistical defenses they have had in years in 2021. The Horned Frogs ranked 119th in total defense this season and 122nd in rushing defense.
Those kinds of numbers won’t cut it in 2022 and should be a focus for Sonny Dykes and his staff during the offseason. The addition of Burdine should help with depth at the very least and could provide some new competition in the TCU secondary.
