K-State Lands Transfer Linebacker Branden Jennings From Maryland

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Texas Tech

The K-State Wildcats have beefed up the defense via the transfer portal after Branden Jennings announced on Twitter on Sunday night he would be heading to Manhattan.

Jennings simply posted, “Let’s do it. #EMAW”

Jennings showed a lot of promise as a true freshman for the Terps in 2021. He played in seven games and came away with 23 total tackles, 17 of which were solo. Jennings added one forced fumble and one quarterback hit.

The linebacker did get hurt with a lower-body injury during the Maryland win over Kent State back on Sept. 25, which limited his impact the rest of the season.

His start was so impressive he was named as a 2021 Midseason True Freshman All-American by ESPN. Coming out of high school, Jennings was a consensus four-star linebacker, who was the 7th-ranked outside linebacker in the nation, 16th-ranked player in Florida , and 67th-ranked player in the country according to ESPN.

The Wildcats still have one more game left to wrap up the 2021 season as they’ll take on the LSU Tigers in the Texas Bowl on Tuesday night from NRG Stadium in Houston. Kick off is set for 8:00 p.m. CST.
