Baylor Falls, Oklahoma Rises in Women’s AP Top 25

Baylor dropped four spots in the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25 on Monday, while the Oklahoma Sooners made the poll for the first time this season.
The Wildcats (11-2, 1-0 in Big 12) received votes for the first time this season. Kansas State snapped a 36-game losing streak to Baylor, beating the Bears, 68-59, behind a 32-point performance by center Ayoka Lee.
They were four Big 12 teams in the Top 25 this week:
Texas at No. 9 (the Longhorns were No. 12 last week).
Iowa State at No. 12 (the Cyclones were tied for No. 14 last week).
Baylor at No. 14 (the Bears were No. 10 last week).
Oklahoma at No. 23 (the Sooners were receiving votes last week).
Kansas State received 27 votes, remaining outside the Top 25.
Texas (10-1, 1-0) became the Big 12’s highest-ranked team after beating Oklahoma State, 62-51, in the Big !2 opener for both teams. The Longhorns host Texas Tech on Jan. 5 and travel to Baylor on Jan. 9.
Iowa State (12-1, 1-0) played its first game since Dec. 19, and beat short-handed West Virginia, 88-72. The Cyclones travel to Oklahoma on Jan. 5 and then host TCU on Jan. 8.
Baylor (10-3, 0-1), which lost to Kansas State, did beat North Texas in a non-conference game on Dec. 29. The Bears had just seven scholarship players for its loss to Kansas State. The Bears host TCU on Jan. 5 and Texas on Jan. 9.
Oklahoma (12-1, 1-0) won two games last week, including its Big 12 opener, 97-91, over Texas Tech. The Sooners host Iowa State on Jan. 5 and travel to Kansas on Jan. 8.
Kansas State aims to move further up the outside of the Top 25 when it faces Oklahoma State on Jan. 5 and West Virginia on Jan. 8.
The entire poll featured No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Louisville, No. 4 Arizona, No. 5 NC State, No. 6 Indiana, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 8 Michigan, No. 9 Texas, No. 10 Maryland, No. 11 UConn, No. 12 Iowa State, No. 13 LSU, No. 14 Baylor, No. 15 Georgia, No. 16 Georgia Tech, No 17 Duke, No. 18 BYU, No. 19 North Carolina, No. 20 Notre Dame, No. 21 Kentucky, No. 22 Iowa, No. 23 Oklahoma, No. 24 South Florida and No. 25 Texas A&M.
