Despite their meeting in Atlanta a few weeks ago when Alabama defeated Georgia 41-24, the Bulldogs opened up as 1.0-point favorites to win the rematch in the National Championship next week according to BetOnline.ag.
Almost immediately after the line came out, big money started to flow in on Georgia and the line grew to -3.0 in Georgia’s favor and that is where the line currently stands.
Both teams looked fantastic in their semifinal matchups, outclassing the likes of Cincinnati and Michigan in an unsurprising fashion. As it turns out, having all of those five-star recruits on the roster does make a difference.
Alabama completely shut down Desmond Ritter and the Bearcats, winning 27-6 their lowest point total in a game since October 14, 2017. Georgia had an equally impressive outing against Michigan, holding the Wolverines to 91 yards on the ground and blasting Jim Harbaugh and UM 34-11.
I wouldn’t expect a similar outcome to the SEC Championship Game, at least not another blowout. Vegas seems to think that UGA has the upper hand this time, and it is certainly true that beating a good team twice is nearly impossible. However, if there was a coach that could do it, wouldn’t it have to be Saban?
