Baylor’s Adam Flagler is the Big 12 Men’s Player of the Week
Adam Flager of Baylor is the Big 12 Men’s Player of the Week award, announced on Monday.
In addition, his teammate, James Akinjo — who was the Big 12 Player of the Week last week — was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
This is first weekly award of 2021-22 for Flagler, and the second weekly award of 2021-22 for Akinjo, who transferred to the Bears from Arizona after last season.
The pair led Baylor to an undefeated week and helped the Bears (15-0, 3-0 in Big 12) remain No. 1 in the country.
Flagler tied his Baylor career-high with 22 points in both games last week, but his TCU game on Saturday was pivotal. He went 8-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range. All of Flagler’s 3-pointers came in the second half and helped the Bears erase a nine-point second-half deficit.
Akinjo averaged 23.5 points, 6.5 assists, and two steals per game last week, including a career-high 27 points against Oklahoma. He is Baylor’s second Big 12 Newcomer of the Week this season, joining freshman Kendall Brown, who won the award on Dec. 20.
