TCU Defensive End Ochaun Mathis Enters Transfer Portal

The TCU Horned Frogs appear to be losing one of their defensive leaders to the NCAA transfer portal, as three-year starting defensive end, Ochaun Mathis has decided to weigh his options ahead of the 2022 offseason.
Mathis has appeared in 38 games, starting in 34, during his career at TCU and has been a force for the Frogs since his arrival in Fort Worth. Mathis saw action in four games as a true freshman in 2018, collected 40 tackles and 2.5 sacks as a redshirt freshman in 2019, and truly arrived as a sophomore in 2020. He recorded 9.0 sacks, second in the Big 12 that season, and 14.0 TFL’s which was good for third in the conference.
Here’s his post on Twitter.
With Mathis leaving, the Frogs return Khari Coleman, Colt Ellison, Dylan Horton, and Landyn Watson from last season’s roster, while adding defensive end Michael Ibukun-Okeyode as part of their 2022 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-5, 257-pound defensive end was originally a three-star defensive end out of Manor, Texas, and was ranked as the No. 36 weakside defensive end in the nation according to 247Sports. His loss will be hard to replace, but the Frogs have done a good job so far this season with replenishing the roster. Though they have lost some key players, TCU has added seven players thus far and will be looking for more additions in the coming weeks.
