Seven Big 12 Men’s Teams Higher Seeds in Latest Bracketology

NCAA Basketball: Baylor at Texas Christian

All seven Big 12 teams in the latest NCAA Tournament Bracketology by ESPN would be higher seeds in their first-round games, per Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi released his latest 68-team field on Friday, and only the Big Ten (eight) received more bids than the Big 12. Both the Big East and the SEC each had seven bids.

Despite their loss to Texas Tech on Tuesday, the Baylor Bears remained Lunardi’s No. 1 overall seed, and was the Big 12’s only No. 1 seeded team. Both Kansas and Texas Tech were among the Top 12 seeds in the tournament.

Other takeaways:

Texas Tech was the only Big 12 team to go up a seed line from Lunardi’s last 68-team bracket. Lunardi revealed on Thursday that Tech moved up to a No. 3 seed, and the Red Raiders remained there in Friday’s bracket.

Iowa State moved down a seed line from the latest bracketology. Just a couple of weeks ago the Cyclones were a No. 3 seed in the tournament. The Cyclones would also be the only Big 12 team to face a Power 5 team in the first round. West Virginia would face a team from the Big East.

TCU remains one of the ‘First Four Out,’ and the Horned Frogs are the third team out of the bracket.

Future big 12 member UCF is the last team in the 68-team field as of Friday. Two other future Big 12 teams, Houston and BYU, are also in the field.
