Former Oklahoma WR Mario Williams Transfers to USC

After entering the transfer portal less than two weeks ago, former Oklahoma wide receiver Mario Williams is joining the USC Trojans. This reunites Williams with his former head coach Lincoln Riley, who left Oklahoma following the end of the regular season.
Williams made the announcement in a Twitter video released on Saturday afternoon.
Williams was second on the team in receptions (35) as a true freshman and showed flashes of something special throughout the year. His athleticism made him a two-sport athlete, as he also was on scholarship to play baseball for the Sooners this spring. Williams became the fourth of the top five pass catchers to depart from the Sooners depth chart in 2021.
A four-star receiver out of Plant City, Florida, Williams was the No. 4 ranked receiver in the class of 2021, according to 247Sports. At the time, he picked Oklahoma over Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson and several others. He has made it known that playing with Caleb Williams was one of the biggest reasons he came to Oklahoma, and this decision may ultimately lead to Williams, who is also in the transfer portal himself, ended up in Southern California.
The most recent reports show Williams was taking visits to USC and UCLA, but no official decision has been made.
