Oklahoma Adds Wyoming Transfer DB C.J. Coldon

Oklahoma hosted several targets over the weekend, both from the transfer portal and the 2022-23 recruiting classes. C.J. Coldon, a senior cornerback from Wyoming, was one of those targets and he announced his commitment to the Sooners on Sunday.
Coldon was an All-Mountain West Second-Team selection in 2021, recording 67 total tackles with a sack and 10 PBU’s on the year.
A three-star recruit in the 2017 class, Coldon redshirted his freshman year and battled injuries in 2018 and 2019. He then appeared in all six games for the Cowboys in 2020, totaling 26 tackles (17 solos), two interceptions, and one PBU.
Coldon’s addition to the defensive backs room will give the Sooners another veteran to work with in 2022 after they lose some pieces to the NFL Draft or the transfer portal.
Dellarin Turner-Yell declared for the 2022 NFL draft after the Alamo Bowl, and Pat Fields transferred to Stanford on a full academic scholarship but will play for the Cardinal in 2022.
Talented freshman Latrell McCutchin also hit the portal and will not be a Sooner next season, so the need was certainly there for Oklahoma.
Although Coldon’s commitment gave the Sooners four (now five) additions on the defensive side of the ball, they don’t appear to be done just yet. Look for Brent Venables and his new staff to bring in a few more pieces before signing day gets here in a couple of weeks.
