Ayoka Lee is Named Big 12 Women’s Player of the Week
Kansas State’s Ayoka Lee is the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after her record-shattering 61-point performance against Oklahoma on Sunday.
In addition, Lee’s teammate, Jaelyn Glenn was named the Big 12 Women’s Freshman of the Week.
This is the fourth time that Lee has been named the Big 12’s Player of the Week this season. It is the second time she has claimed the aware in the past four weeks. This is the first time Glenn has earned the Big 12’s Freshman of the Week honors this season. Her sister, Brylee, has claimed the award twice, and the sisters’ teammate, Serena Sundell, has claimed it three times.
Against Oklahoma, Lee set a Division I single-game scoring mark and broke the Big 12 single-game scoring mark by 11 points. She made a Big 12 record 23 field goals and is the only player in Division I to shoot better than 75 percent from the field on 26-or-more attempts since 2009-10.
Before the Oklahoma game, Lee scored 25 points with 15 rebounds in the Wildcats’ 69-61 win over Kansas Wednesday. Her 43-point average is a Big 12 record for a single week.
Glenn scored 10 points in K-State’s 69-61 win over Kansas, then had nine points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in the 94-65 win over Oklahoma. She averaged nine points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals for the week. She and her sister, Brylee, are the first sisters to win Big 12 Freshman of the Week in the same week in league history.
