Ochai Agbaji, Nijel Pack Share Big 12 Men’s Player of Week Honors
Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji and Kansas State guard Nijel Pack are the Big 12 Men’s Players of the Week award, which was announced on Monday.
In addition, Texas Tech forward Kevin Obanor was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
This is the third weekly award of the season for Agbaji, who was the Big 12 Player of the Week on the season’s opening week and last week. These are the first weekly awards for Pack and for Obanor.
Agbaji led the Jayhawks to an undefeated week and a move up to No. 5 in the AP Top 25 on Monday.
Agbaji scored 29 points in Kansas’ come-from-behind win over Kansas State on Saturday, part of a 2-0 week for the Jayhawks. Agbaji averaged 19.5 points and six rebounds for the week, which included a come-fron-behind win over Oklahoma.
Pack scored a career-high 35 points on 12-of-18 field goals, including 8-of-12 from 3-point range, against Kansas on Saturday. He averaged 25.5 points on 57.6 percent shooting for the week, including 58.8 percent from 3-point range, as the Wildcats upset the Texas Longhorns on the road, which was their second straight win over a ranked team.
Obanor helped Texas Tech go 2-0 last week, as he scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Red Raiders’ win over No. 15 Iowa State on Tuesday, and then scored 18 points in the Red Raiders’ win over West Virginia on Saturday. The senior is now five points away from reaching 1,500 points for his career in college.
