The Baylor Bears just got another huge lift for the 2022 season as defensive tackle Siaki Ika announced he would be returning for the 2022 season.
Ika shared the news on Twitter, saying in part, “The last year was something words cannot describe. The laughs, the cry’s, and the fights are moments I will FOREVER cherish. I’m more than grateful to have been apart of such an amazing team, as well as grow with a brotherhood that has yet to let me know… I love this program, city and fans and look forward to wearing the green and gold for one more year.
Here’s his post.
Siaki Ika was our Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year for the 2021 season after transferring in from LSU. He played a big role on one of the best defensive lines in the Big 12 as he finished with 24 tackles and four sacks.
He was a former four-star prospect who played sparingly at LSU before transferring to Baylor prior to last season and joining his former defensive coordinator, Dave Aranda, now the head coach of the Bears.
Baylor is coming off a Big 12 Championship and then New Year’s Six Sugar Bowl win over Ole Miss.
Ika will now also be joined in the middle of the defensive line by top Tulsa transfer Jaxon Player, who announced his plans to join Baylor in recent weeks.
