The Oklahoma Sooners have added an in-state product to the defensive backfield as part of their 2023 class.
McCarty is from McAlester, Oklahoma and he announced his commitment on Saturday night on social media, which according to Rivals, gives the Sooners the No. 9 class in the country.
Here’s his post.
According to Rivals, McCarty is a three-star prospect who held several other offers, including from Big 12 schools including Baylor, Kansas, TCU and Kansas State. His other offers came from Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Marshall and others.
McCarty was viewed as a favorite for the Sooners. He also played running back and inked his name into McAlester history during the 2020 season as he rushed for 1,966 yards on 213 carries with 32 touchdowns. His record year put him second all-time in McAlester history for rushing yards in a season, and first all-time in rushing touchdowns scored.
This year, he bested his own records with 2,009 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns scored, second and first all-time, respectively.
