Izaiah Brockington Claims Big 12 Men’s Player of Week Honors
Iowa State guard Izaiah Brockington won the Big 12 Men’s Player of the Week award for the first time this season, which was announced on Monday.
In addition, Texas Tech forward Bryson Williams was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
This is the third weekly award of the season for Brockington, who was the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week twice earlier this season. This is the first weekly award for Williams.
Brockington led the Cyclones to an undefeated week and a move up to No. 20 in the AP Top 25 on Monday.
Brockington scored 26 points as Iowa State ended a 24-game Big 12 road losing streak last Wednesday with an overtime win at Oklahoma State. He followed that 15 points and six rebounds in a win against Missouri. He averaged 20.5 points, four rebounds and 1.5 assists last week.
Williams had a season-high 33 points at Kansas before scoring 10 in a victory over Mississippi State. Williams leads the Red Raiders with 13.5 points per game and has scored 1,910 points in his career.
