Texas Tech Plans Blackout for Chris Beard Return on Tuesday Night

Chris Beard, Texas Longhorns head basketball coach and former head coach at Texas Tech, will make his return to Lubbock on Tuesday in a matchup of 16-5 teams.

This will be the first time Beard faces his former team, who he lead to the Elite Eight in 2018 and finished as the national runner-up in 2019.

Beard took the Texas job in 2021 and has the Longhorns in Big 12 contention in his first year, but faces the toughest remaining schedule in the country according to ESPN. That starts with a matchup with Texas Tech in Lubbock, who is fresh off a 26-point victory over Mississippi State.

It’s not easy to come out of Lubbock with a win, and there is no doubt the atmosphere is going to be electric, especially since the school announced that tomorrow night is a “blackout.

Expect it to be a raucous crowd in the United Supermarkets Arena on Tuesday night and the game should be must-see TV, plus a halftime appearance by Ric Flair should make things even rowdier. Texas better come into the game focused, because if they let the moment get away from them, that crowd could become a nightmare for Beard in his return. The tip is scheduled for 8:00 pm CT on ESPN2.
