TexAgs Billy Liucci Rips, Blames OU Fans for Rumor of $30 Million Texas A&M NIL Fund

NCAA Football: TaxSlayer Gator Bowl-Texas A&M vs North Carolina State

National Signing Day hasn’t been the same since the Early Signing Period started. But this week, there was certainly some juice as Texas A&M Coach Jimbo Fisher went on a war path against rumors there is a $30 million NIL fund for Aggies Recruits.

Fisher insisted during a conversation with 247Sports’ Josh Pate that the Aggies landing the No. 1 class in the country was simply about the hard work of his staff and nothing more.

Well the Texas A&M media crowd was also very defensive about these rumors this week, and the King of College Station media Billy Liucci went on Paul Finebaum’s radio show and blamed Oklahoma fans for this rumor starting.

He told Finebuam, “Paul the one thing I haven’t heard anyone mention… that number and that narrative out there that was literally based off of a fabrication on an OU fan site. Because right now they’re the same people that are trying to convince themselves that Brent Venables and Dillon Gabriel is an upgrade over Caleb Williams and Dri Fit Lincoln Riley.”

The commentary starts at around the 23:00 mark of the Hour 1 podcast below from Thursday’s show.

Now the backstory here is that back in January, BroBible posted an article claiming Texas A&M’s boosters had spent $25-$30 million to land the top recruiting class in the nation. The article’s source was a message board user named SlicedBread on OU’s 247 site. Fisher was furious over that report.

Regardless of what is being done at Texas A&M or anywhere else, one thing we know is that even though the Aggies have been gone from the Big 12 for a decade, they can’t help but show that chip is solidly on their shoulder when it comes to their old Big 12 foes.
