Sonny Dykes continues to build a strong staff at TCU, bringing in several big names familiar to the Big 12. Jamarkus McFarland, former Oklahoma defensive linemen is headed back to the Big 12, but this time he will remain on the sidelines.
TCU is expected to hire McFarland as its new defensive line coach, according to Football Scoop.
McFarland started 22 games for the Sooners, including every game during the 2012 season when he amassed 28 tackles and six TFL’s. He then joined the Oklahoma coaching staff as a graduate assistant from 2016-18
He had spent the last three months as the assistant head coach at Stephen F. Austin but was recently hired by Sonny Cumbie at Louisiana Tech.
Now he will leave Ruston, Louisiana for Fort Worth, Texas, and complete Sonny Dykes’ first on-field staff with the Horned Frogs. According to Football Scoop, McFarland is the sixth coach on Dykes’ staff with Big 12 playing experience, along with assistant head coach Ra’Shaad Samples (Oklahoma State), offensive coordinator Garrett Riley (Texas Tech), co-offensive coordinator AJ Ricker (Missouri), outside receivers coach Malcolm Kelly (Oklahoma), and inside receivers coach Doug Meacham (Oklahoma State).
