Iowa State Announces 2022 Spring Football Schedule

NCAA Football: Texas Christian at Iowa State

Iowa State football announced its spring football schedule this weekend, with plans to start on March 4th and ending on April 15th.

There will be no true spring game, but instead three open practices at Ames High School (April 1, 5 p.m.), Gilbert High School (April 8, 5 p.m.) and Des Moines East High School (April 15, 6:30 p.m.).

The Cyclones will conduct 15 practices with details on the three open practices will be announced at a later date. Last season, Iowa State returned nearly every starter on both sides of the ball after reaching a Big 12 Championship, however the team came up short of expectations, finishing 7-6 during the 2021 season.

Heading into 2022, the Cyclones will still bring back a solid 10 starters, including Will McDonald IV, Xavier Hutchinson and Trevor Downing.

The most intriguing part of spring camp for Iowa State will be its open quarterback competition, with Hunter Dekkers to presumed favorite in the race.

Also of ntoe, Iowa State’s Pro Day is scheduled for March 22, which will not be open to the public.

The Cyclones have six players who were invited to the NFL Combine (March 1-7), tying for the 14th-most nationally, and the most in school history.
