Texas Tech Lands Four-Star Athlete Jmaury Davis

NCAA Football: Montana State at Texas Tech

When Joey McGuire took the job at Texas Tech back in November, he aimed to do one thing over all else on the recruiting trail: load the Red Raiders roster with West Texas talent.

On Monday, he continued to do just that by locking in a commitment from Jmaury Davis out of Clarendon, Texas. The four-star athlete is from the heart of the Texas panhandle and will stay there when he heads two hours south to Lubbock.

Davis chose the Red Raiders over the likes of other D-I programs like Kentucky, Purdue, UTSA, and Western Kentucky. He announced his intent to stay home on Monday afternoon via Twitter.

“Extremely blessed and excited to announce my commitment to Texas Tech,” Davis wrote. “I would like to thank my family, coaches and teammates who have always believed in me and pushed to be the best I can be on and off the field.”

Davis is now the 10th commitment for the Red Raiders 2023 recruiting class, a class that currently ranks fifth in the country according to Rivals.com.

It is worth noting that every commitment that Tech currently holds under McGuire in next year’s class is from the state of Texas, pointing to the former legendary high school coach’s recruiting prowess in the Lone Star State.
