Texas finished its regular-season sweep of Oklahoma last night with an 80-78 victory over the Sooners in Norman on Tuesday night and it may have shut the door on Oklahoma’s chances to get into the Big Dance.
On his way to the locker room, Texas head coach Chris Beard as called a “traitor” by a heckler donning Crimson and Cream, and continued on his path to join the team. Oh wait, that’s not what happened? Actually, Beard must’ve had enough with this sort of comment, because he not only paid attention to it, but approached the fan about his comment.
Take a look here as Beard makes his way to the fan to have a short discussion with him. The video is courtesy of Dylan Buckingham, sports anchor for KFOR and the host of the Franchise OK radio show.
Apparently, Beard felt the need to straighten the young man out and seems to have done just that. I have to say that I find this a bit amusing as most fans scream with zero regards for what they’re saying and never expect any kind of response. Well, have it be known that Chris Beard may just call you out on it.
This will certainly be something that Texas Tech fans remember when they head to Austin on Saturday and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if we hear a “traitor” chant or two, even on the Longhorns home court.
