Baylor Bears

After Upset Saturday, Baylor, Kansas Lead Big 12 in AP Top 25 Poll

NCAA Basketball: Villanova at Baylor

Despite losses, there wasn’t much change at the top this week in the Associated Press Men’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday.

This was one of the most tumultuous weeks in the AP Top 25 in recent memory, with Saturday marking the first time in history that the Top 6 teams in the AP poll all lost on the same day.

The AP Top 25 included the following Big 12 teams:

No. 3 Baylor (the Bears were No. 10 last week).

No. 6 Kansas (The Jayhawks were No. 5 last week).

No. 12 Texas Tech (The Red Raiders were No. 9 last week).

No. 21 Texas (The Longhorns were No. 20 last week).

Baylor (24-5, 12-4) is on a three-game winning streak after beating Oklahoma State, 66-64, and Kansas, 80-70, last week. The Bears have a pair of games to wrap up Big 12 play, starting with a road trip at Texas on Monday. Then, Baylor finished off the regular-season with a Saturday game in Waco against Iowa State.

Kansas (23-5, 12-3 in Big 12) started last week with a 102-83 win over Kansas State, which was followed by the Jayhawks’ 80-70 loss to Baylor. Kansas remains in first place in the Big 12 and has three games this week — at TCU on Tuesday, at home against TCU on Thursday and at home against Texas on Saturday.

Texas Tech (22-7, 11-5) beat Oklahoma, 66-42, to start last week, but went to Fort Worth and fell to TCU, 69-66, ending the Red Raiders’ four-game winning streak. This week the Red Raiders wrap up Big 12 play with a pair of unranked teams — home against Kansas State on Monday and at Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Texas (21-8, 10-6) put together a two-win week last week. The Longhorns started the week with a 75-66 win over TCU, followed by an 82-81 win over West Virginia on the road. Texas hosts Baylor on Monday in the final game at the Frank Erwin Center, followed by a Saturday finale at Kansas.
