Baylor’s NaLyssa Smith is Big 12 Women’s Player of the Week
Baylor’s NaLyssa Smith is the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Bears to an undefeated week.
In addition, Kansas State guard Serena Sundell was named the Big 12 Women’s Freshman of the Week.
This is Smith’s third Big 12 Player of the Week honor for the season, but the sixth of her career. This is Sundell’s fourth freshman of the week honor, tying Texas’ Rori Harmon for the most in the Big 12 this season.
Smith averaged 26 points, 15.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in two Baylor wins. Her performance against Kansas included a career-high 33 points with 16 rebounds, and she passed the 1,000-rebound mark for her career.
Sundell played in every minute of K-State’s games last week against Texas and Oklahoma, and she averaged 20 points, five assists and had a 5.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. She scored 24 points with a career-high five 3-pointers against Oklahoma.
