Kansas State to Play in Cayman Islands Classic in 2022

The Kansas State Wildcats announced on Tuesday that they will be one of eight men’s teams that will play in the Cayman Islands Classic next basketball season.
The Classic is set for November 21-23, 2022, at John Gray Gymnasium. The Wildcats were supposed to play in this classic in November of 2020, but it was moved to Florida and eventually canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
George Mason won the last Classic in 2019.
Along with Kansas State, Akron, Illinois State, LSU, Nevada, Rhode Island, Tulane and Western Kentucky will play in the event. The Wildcats have a .500 record or better against Akron, Illinois State, Nevada, Tulane and Western Kentucky.
The complete bracket, including match-ups and television broadcast times, will be announced at a later date.
The Wildcats (14-15, 6-11 in Big 12) are coming off a 73-68 loss to Texas Tech on Monday. The Wildcats have one regular-season game left, as they host Oklahoma at 3 p.m. on Saturday. After that, the Wildcats will travel to Kansas City for the Big 12 Tournament, which begins on March 9.
Kansas State is trying to secure a .500 or better season for the first time since the 2018-19 season when the Wildcats went 25-9 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. Since then, the Wildcats are 34-56 and have won just 13 Big 12 games.
All of that has happened under the watch of head coach Bruce Weber, who is wrapping up his 10th season in Manhattan.
