Oklahoma, Oklahoma State Still Standing in Latest USA Softball Top 25

FloSports: FloSports Women's College World Series

We now have three weekends of softball in the rearview mirror and the top teams in the nation are starting to separate themselves from the pack.

Oklahoma still remains at No. 1 this week but lost another vote, this time to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Both Oklahoma and Alabama are 15-0, as is No. 3 Florida State, and No. 4 Florida is currently 16-0. The Sooners had a close call with No. 17 Tennessee, winning in walk-off fashion with Jayda Coleman’s two-run blast in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Oklahoma State rose two spots to 10th this week after a 4-0 weekend that included two wins over a top-30 Texas A&M squad. Kelly Maxwell continued her early-season dominance while Miranda Elish seemed to finally find her stuff over the weekend. After a run ratio of 17-1 over four games this weekend, OSU looks to be headed in the right direction.

Texas continues to struggle against decent competition, dropping their only ranked matchup of the weekend to Arizona State 2-0. While they did manage to win four in a row to finish the weekend with a 9-7 record, the Longhorns have fallen out of the Top 25 for the first time this season.

Iowa State hung tough with stellar competition this weekend but was unable to get the bats going effectively against UCLA or Washington. Still, 3-0 and 1-0 losses to top-six teams are nothing to be ashamed of, leaving the Lady Cyclones at 10-4 and receiving votes yet again this week.
