Three Big 12 Prospects Make USA Nike Hoop Summit Team

NCAA Basketball: Oklahoma State at Texas Tech

Three Big 12 prospects were selected to the 2022 USA Nike Hoop Summit Team, which will face the 2022 World Select Team in a game on April 8 in Portland, Oregon.

Those three prospects — Keyonte George (Baylor), Dillon Mitchell (Texas) and Gradey Dick (Kansas) are among some of the top prospects in the Class of 2022 and will join their respective programs next fall.

They will join a 12-person squad that features the No. 1 prospect in the 2022 Class, 7-foot- center Dereck Lively, who is headed for Duke.

George is the highest-ranked recruit in Baylor’s class and won gold at the 2021 FIBA 3-on-3 Uunder-18 World Cup last summer. One of George’s teammates was Dick.

Mitchell, like George and Dick, signed with Texas in the early signing period in November.

The coaches for the U.S. team will be head coach Joe Mantegna (Blair Academy, N.J.), and assistant coaches Scott Fitch (Fairport H.S., N.Y.) and Chet Mason (Charles F. Brush H.S., Ohio).

“USA Basketball is excited to continue the Nike Hoop Summit tradition in its longtime home of Portland,” USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley said. “The game offers fans and scouts the opportunity to see future stars of the game in a competitive and entertaining environment as we welcome some of the best athletes from across the country and around the world.”

George, Dick Mitchell will be busy. Both were selected in January to play in the McDonald’s All-America game, set for March 29 in Chicago. Arterio Morris, who has signed with Texas in the Class of 2022, will also play in Chicago.
