Kansas State picked up a bit of good news on Thursday afternoon as three-star linebacker Gavin Meyers announced his commitment to the Wildcats.
Meyers is a senior at Hays High School in Hays, Kansas and will walk on as a part of the 2022 class.
While Meyers didn’t hold an offer from K-State, he certainly did from other schools such as Air Force, Colorado, Louisville, Nebraska, and Washington State. Instead of taking one of those offers, Meyers elected to stay home and play for Chris Klieman.
“The path to this decision hasn’t been easy, but definitely worth it,” Meyers wrote in his announcement. “I am beyond grateful for the extensive amount of support I have received from my family, coaches, loved ones, and the community. … I believe when an opportunity is at hand and it feels right, you take a chance on it. That is why I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Kansas State University.”
Meyers is the third-highest recruit to commit to K-State in this year’s class, according to 247Sports.
His composite score of 0.8638 ranks him as the 76th linebacker in the nation and the seventh-best player in the state of Kansas.
