Big 12 Conference Announces Its 2021-22 Men’s All-Conference Team

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Championship-Iowa State vs West Virginia

Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji was the unanimous choice as Big 12 Player of the Year, as the league released its entire team on Sunday, as voted on by the conference’s coaches.

Agbaji, who was also the Heartland College Sports Big 12 Men’s Player of the Year, was selected to the First Team as well.

Agbaji was the league’s leading scorer overall and in conference games. He helped lead the Jayhawks to a share of the Big 12 regular-season title. The Jayhawks are the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament, which starts on Wednesday.

Scott Drew led the Baylor Bears to a share of the Big 12 regular-season title, the second season in a row the Bears have won at least a share of the title. He was named the Coach of the Year.

Iowa State guard Tyrese Hunter was named the Freshman of the Year, while his teammate, guard Izaiah Brockington, was named the league’s Newcomer of the Year. Brockington, like Agbaji, made the first team.

Kansas State guard Nijel Pack was named the league’s Most Improved Player and was also selected to the first team. Baylor freshman forward Jeremy Sochan won the league’s Sixth Man Award.

Three players claimed a share of the Defensive Player of the Year award — Baylor’s Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua, Oklahoma State’s Moussa Cisse and West Virginia’s Gabe Osabuohein.
