Bracketology: Baylor Holds Onto No. 1 Seed After Tennessee Upsets Kentucky

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-Arkansas at Baylor

The Baylor Bears got knocked out of the Big 12 Tournament by Oklahoma in the quarterfinals, but the Bears may still end up with a No. 1 seed come Selection Sunday courtesy of the Tennessee Volunteers.

Kennedy Chandler scored 19 points to lead the Vols as Tennessee held off fifth-ranked Kentucky 69-62 in the final minutes Saturday to reach the SEC Tournament final for the third time in the last five years.

The Vols (25-7) have won 11 of 12 and six in a row, including victories against fourth-ranked Auburn, 15th-ranked Arkansas and now the Wildcats in the last two weeks. They’re one win away from a championship and potentially a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Tennessee will face eighth-seeded Texas A&M in the league’s title game Sunday.

However, as things stand right now, Kentucky has likely been knocked off the No. 1 line, and the Baylor Bears are still hanging on to the final No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

At least that’s what Joe Lunardi has in his latest Bracketology.

Baylor continues to get helped in the SEC, as Auburn losing in the quarterfinals likely knocked them off the No. 1 seed.

And now the waiting game is on, as the Bears will be sweating out Selection Sunday.
