Ochai Agbaji Is Big 12 Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2022 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday night.
Agbaji scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists for the Jayhawks, who won the Big 12 Tournament title for the first time since the 2018 season.
Agbaji was named the Big 12 Player of the Year before the Big 12 Tournament began. He is also on the Wooden Award ballot, given to the nation’s best player.
Before the victory over Texas Tech, Agbaji had 18 points in the 87-63 victory over West Virginia on Thursday. He then scored 22 points against TCU in a 75-62 win over TCU on Friday.
The Jayhawks claimed the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The field will be announced on Sunday, and right now the Jayhawks are considered a No. 1 seed going into the NCAA Tournament. Saturday’s win may have clinched it.
The Big 12 All-Tournament team included Agbaji, Kanas guard Christian Braun, Texas Tech forward Bryson Williams, Texas Tech guard/forward Terrence Shannon, Oklahoma guard Umoja Gibson and TCU guard Mike Miles.
