Oklahoma State redshirt junior Austin Jarrard entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Thursday, according to GoPokes247. Jarrard is a “Cowboy Back” for the Pokes, which is essentially a tight-end/fullback position in the Cowboys’ offense.
Jarrard was with Oklahoma State for just one season after transferring from American River College in Sacramento, California. He played in three games in 2021 but didn’t record any stats in those appearances.
Jarrard started out as a three-star JUCO prospect and, according to 247Sports, was the second-ranked JUCO tight end and No. 28 JUCO recruit in 2021.
With less than a week left until Oklahoma State starts spring practice, Jarrard’s announcement comes at a bit of a surprise, leaving OSU with just four players in the position: redshirt senior Braden Cassity, redshirt sophomore Quinton Stewart, redshirt freshman Luke McEndoo and true freshman Tabry Shettron.
Redshirt senior Cassity is the only one among the group that has recorded a reception, having four of for 66 yards in 2021.
Oklahoma State starts spring practice on March 22 and wil now need someone to step up and fill the void that Jarrard leaves.
