Kansas Opens as 4.5-Point Favorite Over Villanova

NCAA Basketball: Iowa State at Kansas

The Final Four is set and the most consistent team in the Big 12 Conference, Bill Self’s Kansas Jayhawks, are in the national semifinals for the first time since 2018.

KU is set to face Villanova, and Jay Wright’s squad has shown some resilience in the last couple of weeks, downing two teams from the Big Ten (Ohio State and Michigan) and then winning a 50-44 rock fight against Houston on Saturday.

However, they will need to dig deep, as All-Big East guard Justin Moore suffered a torn Achilles tendon against the Cougars and will not be in the lineup against Kansas. Moore’s absence will certainly play a role in the game and as opening lines for the matchups were released, it shows up on the boards as well.

Kansas is currently a 4.5-point favorite over the Wildcats, already up a half-point from the opening line of four. That number will likely continue to swell, largely because of the loss of Moore.

On the other side of the bracket, arch-rivals Duke and North Carolina are set to face off for the first time ever in the NCAA Tournament. Coach K’s team is currently favored in that matchup by 4.5 points.
