Oklahoma, Oklahoma State Stay Put, Texas Rises in Latest USA Softball Top 25 Poll

The Week 9 edition (yes, we’ve somehow already had nine weeks of softball) of the USA Softball Top 25 Poll has been released, and as far as the Big 12 is concerned, there haven’t been many changes.

Oklahoma remains on its perch at No. 1, after a historic 36-0 start to the season that has seen them win 30 of their contests by run rule. The Sooners lead the country in several statistical categories and has looked like the best team in the national since the beginning of the season. A three-game series with Texas looms this weekend in Austin and should be a good measuring stick for a team that just outscored Texas Tech 43-0 over the weekend.

Oklahoma State stayed put right at seventh after winning its weekend series with Iowa State. The Cowgirls are 14-1 in their last 15 games, the lone loss coming to the Cyclones in Game 1 of their doubleheader on Saturday. Kansas will come to Stillwater this weekend for a three-game series and then we will truly find out who Oklahoma State is. Kenny Gajewski’s group will play three-game series against #18 Texas, #4 Florida State, and #1 Oklahoma in a 16-day stretch.

Texas is the lone team from the Big 12 that saw some movement in this week’s poll, moving up one spot from No. 19 to No. 18. The Longhorns took the weekend off ahead of their series with OU and benefitted from Auburn being swept by Arkansas over the weekend.
