Neal Brown and the Mountaineers got a boost on Friday morning as 2023 three-star linebacker prospect Josiah Trotter announced his commitment to West Virginia.
The son of Jeremiah Trotter, a 4x Pro Bowl Linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles, announced his decision via Instagram on Friday morning.
Listed at 6-2, 230 pounds, the product of St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia (PA), held offers from Virginia Tech, Clemson, Penn State, and South Carolina.
“It felt like home when I went down there. To see the campus as well as seeing the different things they have there, and talking to the strength and conditioning coach,” Trotter told 247Sports’ Brian Dohn.
“That was really one of the biggest things that separated them from Virginia Tech and all the other schools. What they do for their players, how they help the players long term.”
Trotter is expected to be right at the heart of West Virginia’s defense, a unit that ranked 37th nationally in total defense last season.
“The defensive scheme was fits me well,” Trotter said. “I feel like I could thrive within their defense and I could get to where I wanted to in that defense. Also, the competition they play as well.”
