Iowa native and Cyclones sophomore Aubrey Joens entered the transfer portal on Friday.
Joens appeared in 61 games over the past two seasons and averaged 5.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Joens started two games her first season and 15 last season, but her role did diminish towards the back half of the season.
Here is the tweet that Joens shared on social media, where she wrote in part, “I want to thank my teammates for always being supportive. The friendships I have made here will last a lifetime.”
There’s plenty of family ties here as well, as Joens’ sister Ashley announced recently she will be returning for the 2022-23 season. One of their sisters Kelsey, is a member of Iowa State’s 2023 recruiting class.
Joens said she’s heard from Marquette, Oklahoma and South Dakota since deciding to transfer.
Iowa State women’s basketball is coming off a record-setting season where the team won 28 games and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2010.
