Jerome Tang landed a big fish on Sunday night with former LSU center Jerrell Colbert announcing his commitment to the Kansas State Wildcats basketball program.
Here’s the tweet Colbert shared to announce the news.
In just four appearances this season, Colbert scored two points and grabbed five rebounds. Colbert who reclassified to the 2022 class for the Tigers a year ago, spent most of his time on the bench during his freshman season.
However, at 6-foot-9 and 210 pounds, Colbert was ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports out of Germantown, Tennessee, and was ranked as the No. 3 center in the state of Tennessee and No. 15 center in the country. He picked LSU out of high school over offers from Memphis, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and others.
But now, he’s joining a K-State team desperate for talent and scholarship bodies.
Jerome Tang and the Wildcats need an influx of players as they’ve lost six players to the transfer portal since he arrived in Manhattan. The list of K-State players in the portal includes Seryee Lewis, Carlton Linguard, Luke Kasubke, Selton Miguel, Nijel Pack, Maximus Edwards, Davion Bradford, and Kaosi Ezeagu.
Only three scholarship players from 2021-22 are still on the roster: Markquis Nowell, Ismael Massoud, and Logan Landers.
