Caleb Lohner To Transfer to Baylor Basketball from BYU

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament Second Round-North Carolina vs Baylor

Caleb Lohner became the second forward to commit to transferring to Baylor basketball this week, making his announcement to join the Bears on Friday.

Lohner, who played for BYU for two seasons, has three years of eligibility remaining. BYU will join the Big 12 in 2023.

Lohner followed former West Virginia forward Jalen Bridges, who committed to the Bears earlier this week. Bridges averaged nearly nine points per game for the Mountaineers last season.

Lohner averaged seven points and 6.4 rebounds per game last season, and he’s a Dallas, Texas native, so he’s coming closer to home, as Waco is about a 90-minute drive.

The 6-foot-8 forward helps fortify a frontcourt that already has Flo Thamba returning for a fifth season and expects to have Jonathan Tchawma Tchatchoua back from injury at some point next season.

The Bears could also have Matthew Mayer back, if he decides to not head to the NBA. He declared earlier this week but retains his final year of eligibility. Guard Adam Flagler did the same thing.
