Nijel Pack Announces That He Will Transfer To Miami

NCAA Basketball: Kansas State at Texas

Former Kansas State guard Nijel Pack announced on Saturday that he will transfer to Miami (FL), should he decide to return to college basketball next season.

Pack, considered by 247Sports.com to be one of the top prizes in the transfer portal this offseason, had earlier announced that he was declaring for the NBA Draft, but retaining his eligibility in case he decides to return. Shortly after declaring for the draft, he submitted his name into the transfer portal.

That came just days after Kansas State hired Jerome Tang to replace Bruce Weber.

Pack was an All-Big 12 First Team pick for the Wildcats in 2021-22, as he averaged 17.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists per game last season. He visited several schools during his recruitment, with Purdue considered one of his primary targets due to its proximity to his hometown of Indianapolis.

Along with his scoring ability, Pack has three years of eligibility, including a COVID-19 wavier year. He’s a big loss to the Wildcats, who have lost nearly all of its 2021-22 roster to either the portal or eligibility.

Miami reached the Elite Eight for the first time before falling to eventual national champion Kansas.
