Three Big 12 Teams Remain in Top 10 of D1Baseball’s Rankings

The Big 12 Conference is home to some of the best teams in college baseball in 2022, and the D1Baseball Top25 rankings continue to show that in this week’s poll.

After losing a three-game series to TCU, Oklahoma State dropped from No. 3 to No. 8 while the Horned Frogs rose one spot to No. 20. The Cowboys were dominant in Game 1, downing the Frogs 13-2, but lost close ones on Saturday and Sunday to lose the series.

Texas Tech comes in at No. 9 in this week’s poll, exactly where they ranked last week. The Red Raiders won a series against West Virginia in a back and forth series that saw TTU win Games 1 and 2 by a combined score of 19-7. Then, on Sunday, the Mountaineers’ bats caught fire as they collected 15 runs on 18 hits, including 10 runs in the 9th inning, propelling WVU to a 15-4 upset.

Texas stayed put at No. 10 this week after sweeping Baylor in an absolutely dominant fashion. The Longhorns outscored the Bears 46-9, winning 20-1, 13-4, and 13-4 over the weekend. After his performance in the series and two other games last week, IF Ivan Melendez was named the Collegiate Baseball Player of the Week and Big 12 Player of the Week. Melendez hit five bombs in five games, batting .500 with 11 RBI and nine runs scored.
