Oklahoma Selected Unanimous No. 1 For Third Consecutive Week in USA Softball Top 25

For the third consecutive week, Oklahoma was unanimously voted as the No. 1 team in college softball. The Sooners have a record of 45-1 (14-1) and have looked like the most consistent team in the country nearly all season long.

In fact, since the beginning of the 2022 season, there have been 325 first-place votes cast in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Poll and Oklahoma has received 313 of them; that is how dominant the Sooners have looked thus far.

Six spots behind the Sooners at No. 7 is the Big 12’s other juggernaut: the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. At 38-9 (14-1), the Cowgirls are right in the thick of the Big 12 Title hunt and can clinch the regular-season crown with a series win in Norman this weekend. Problem is, the Sooners haven’t been dethroned as regular-season champions since 2011.

Up two spots this week from 16th is the Texas Longhorns at No. 14 in the poll. UT currently holds a 35-15-1 (10-5) record and is solidly in place as the No. 3 seed in next week’s Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City. If the Longhorns can sweep Baylor this weekend and find themselves in the Championship Game next Saturday, Austin will undoubtedly be a regional site when the NCAA Tournament begins.
